That's actually what I was talking about.

Oh, I wasn't sure, cause the cat's eye in the sketch you posted was horizontal, and I thought a vertical approach better suit the logo.

I guess at this point I should be wonrdering if it was okay for me to modify this... Oh well. Here's to my account being deleted. *Cheers*

You'll be hearing from my lawyers! :P j/k

I'm just gonna do what Morgul said, and not discuss this on the open forums. If I have a problem with something someone is doing, you'll hear about it in private. But hey, feel free to modify my wallpapers to your hearts content. If you can make them look better, I'm cool with that. Just don't sell it. lol

I was thinking about the eye for a couple of days, and I think it would work better if the cat's eye was standard, instead of sideways, since the logo has height, but no width. I've attached a drawing so you can see what I'm talking about.

Here you go...sorry about the delay, but my damn Photoshop puked out on me, and took me a bit to fix it.

Heh - getting Caenus to give you renders . . . if you mean concept sketches then sure, renders are a bit of a ways off.

Concept's are just as good, as long as they are pretty detailed (which I am assuming yours are), but even basic clay models will do. Pretty much anything that has been rendered is good enough for now.

Hey morgul - if you guys are gonna want a kick ass redesign, Dave's gonna need some dough.  He'll probably redo the whole dang thing for 100 bucks (minus the 30 you already have shelled out).  The big thing is, we MUST have the entire layout of the site first (this is where NeoLithic comes in).  NeoLithic, I need a written summary of what segments will be on the site (i.e. what areas he needs to design) and then also what colors you'd like.

I am working on a php template for the forums, but Dave (of Purplehoodie Productions) will be the one who does the actual artwork.

Give me a couple days to hammer it out, and I'll send you the goods. I have a pretty good idea of what I'm going for as far as the segments of the site, but I'd be more comfortable with morgul choosing the base colours (ie. font, links, etc.), as this is his baby, not mine :)

So how exactly are you generating a fan base for the game using those methods? They sound cool; I'm just curious as to the "behind the scenes / who you're paying off ;D" kind of stuff.

Mostly by working with gaming sites to organize email / IRC based exclusive interviews, doing the whole IRC Chat night, later on getting Caenus to give me renders to offer exclusively to sites. Essentially, generate a lot of interest in the project on large sites. The game will get noticed a little bit more, and it will make it a lot easier to get a lot of traffic going on the forums.

Anywho, I am Caenus, Head of Content Design and President of the Art Department.  Anything regarding the look of anything must go through me and then on to Morgul.  (I'm also working on designing the look of the site you're coding)

Since you're the one doing the redesign, I know who to drop all of my little tidbits of goodness I'd like added to the site (ie. Jobs page, Media page, Press Releases, Links (useful for linking to popular gaming sites, just to generate a good reputation with the good sites) etc.)

For those that are wondering what I'm working on right now, I am currently attempting to generate a fan base for the game through other gaming sites and through events. I am also organizing a mailing list, putting together a press kit, as well as taking our current graphic package and creating a fan-site kit.

If there is anything else anyone wants, just let me know.

Thanks for the greetz guys.

As for the blog, I am most definitely all for it, and if I wasn't at work today, I was actually going to post the idea (got it on my way to work).

I think that each member of the team having their own blog is the way to go. I've seen this with many companies, and it seems to work quite well. I remember when I was younger going to WebDog just so I could read the latest .plan updates for the boys from id Software.

But, that's just my two cents...

Sounds like a good idea to me. It would definitely look cool if the eyes had an almost firey look to them, like a lot of reds, yellows and oranges. Something that looks totally creepy, yet draws your attention right away.

Here are the 3D Backgrounds I was promising. Images were created in 3D Studio MAX 7.0, with Compositing done in Photoshop CS 8.0. Three sizes are available; 1280x1024, 1024x768, and 800x600. Comments and critiques welcome, as well as requests.

I'm digging.  You wanna model a fiend?  I'll give you detailed drawings.  :P

Well, like Chris said, there isn't a guarantee it will be nice. I mostly model landscapes, but for the last year or so I've been playing with Poly Modelling. But yeah, send me detailed drawings, but try and have at least four sides covered: Front, Back, Side and Top. I don't need a perspective view, just those four. With those, it won't be too hard for me to do.

NeoLithic: ahh ok...what software did you use?

I'm playing with 3DS Max 7.0 right now, but I normally model in Max 5.

Nope...just basic rendering. One skylight, Advanced Lighting, and a Matte plane for the shadow.

Here is the first initial release of the Logo done up in 3D. Please note that this is just a clay render, essentially used to check for mesh errors before texturing. However, you will all be able to get the idea of what I'm up to.

Enjoy...

Though I have no idea what y'all are talking about (explanations welcome, of course), I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it.

Outer Glow - Essentially it add's colour to the exterior of the selection that is faded out over a distance defined by the user. Instead of using just one colour for this, I created a Gradiant (which is a row of different colours that blend and fade into one another at points that I define) and used that for the colour. I also added a little noise (distortion that breaks up the smooth blending).

Inner Glow - This is essentially the same thing as an outer glow, except it works for the inside of the selection. All I did with this is crank up the size, and add a lot of noise so that it filled the entire interior of the logo, and the noise essentially just broke it up and gave it a faded look.

Hope this helps. I'm just self taught, so don't expect too much in the way of explanations. I pretty much know how it works, just not how to describe it. lol.

I like that. That's Inner Shadow, Inner Glow and Stroke right?

Actually, it's Outer Glow with a Gradient thrown on it, as well as Anti-Aliasing with a two wave filter on it, and an Inner Glow for the Grey.

I'll be posting some more renditions soon...I'm really considering poly modeling it next and going for a chrome / brushed metal look.

Well, I just figured I'd come up with my own wallpaper, so here it is. Two versions...800x600 and 1024x768.
