New 3D Ships. Check'em out.
« on: December 19, 2005, 09:38:31 am »
Well. I made these a while back. Our friendly neighborhood rguy managed to do some nice texturing. Although more work is needed. I still love them. But some more detail work is needed. I dont doubt rbuys ability. Just the models require more detail on my part a little more time for ryguy.

Good work Ryguy.  ;D

Ryguy did these. I think he did the thing very good. Although its still reminiscent of a imperial fighter.  :D

It's a friggin Tie Defender. :P. Kewl looking, but it's waaaaay too close to use.

The other one is really interesting. I'm not 100% sure on the texture (There are a few points where some additional detial could be had, etc.) But over all I do like it. Once I'm less sleep deprived I'll post better comments, and suggestions on improvements.

Nice.

So do you have any backstory on that probe, or is that somebody else's job? :)

A background story - how the ship was made, who built it (e.g., pirates, League, Terrans, etc.), what its purpose is (shooting things in this case [obviously], but how - interceptor, anti-capitalship, dogfighter, etc.), some battles it has seen. Backstory.

I sort of had one for my ship. Mine was built by the terrans to be used as a radar jammer and a support vessel. Its long days in service are rembered by the few who piloted the ships. Now they are rarely used to jamming and mostly for scouting outer planets and looking for new minerals in the galaxy.

Sounds good...I'm thinking that these would be drones that are specifically made to assist this ship (made by national_cookie).  Maybe they could be compatible with this ship only, and must be controlled by it.

Here's another ship I just finished, these are the best thrusters I've ever made.  I will touch up the texture stretch and spikes in the back pretty soon:

I REALLY hate to bust your bubble on the drone, but that looks even more Star Wars.  Say hello to the TIE Phantom.

and now yours

heres another ship i've come up with, I'm not sure which way to have it though, please tell me which one you think is better  (unless you just plain dont like it):

1)

2)

...and here I have some other views of it in way #2...but if you like one better then these are still the same views, with the different texture in the back:

I like #2 better, personally. Very interesting design. Texture does look a bit stretched, however.
