I'm pretty sure a friend of mine went to Seville. I know she went to Spain through the study abroad thing at Tech, and though I'm not 100% certain on the specific area she went to, I am pretty sure that's where she studied. Lemme poke her and see if she can talk with you some about it.

McCain / Bush / Palin

What does Bush have to do with this?  He's on his way out.

From my post-post IM convo with windy:
I don't loathe Bush like a lot of people do, mainly because I just don't care enough (which is bad, I'll agree). But I don't like him, and I don't see where McCain will be enough of a digression from the standard party line to make even a modicum of difference. I think that's what I'm trying to say. So I realize it's the Dem standard line, McCain = Bush, and that's somewhat the idea I'm quoting, but it was done more for exaggeratory effect than out of honest belief.

So in short, it's halfway between "Bush is irrelevant he's on his way out" and "electing McCain is 4 more years of Bush." McCain isn't a copy-paste of Bush, but seeing as I don't like Bush, I think he's too close to Bush's policies and politics for me to really consider his candidacy completely independent of Bush's terms in office.

Stuff about Obama
If you can find links, please feel free to post them, I'd be interested in looking at them.

I already tossed this at Cae, just for conversation's sake, but I'll post it here too: linkage

Now, NYT is usually pretty liberal, so I'll definitely agree that they could be (rotten) cherry picking. But even if a few of these are true, her attitude concerns me a great deal. I don't want someone in a position of power who uses that power to punish individuals for personal reasons; I don't like the idea of even testing whether using individual email addresses would allow them to sidestep subpoenas, even if it was just checked on by her staff (if she didn't support it, she should have fired the staff member who suggested it, honestly); and I don't like seeing her name in the same sentence / paragraph as supporting the banning of books from a public library. If I don't go with Obama, I know I'm not going with McCain / Palin.

And no, I haven't looked at Biden yet, any interesting information out there y'all have come across?

In the end, though, I'm pretty cynical regarding politics. Every person in an elected position is bought and paid for by special interests, lobbying groups, and megacorps. Nothing is really going to change, no real good is going to be accomplished. Mr. Smith is never going to Washington, and honestly is the first person in line to bend over and take it from the rear by the people in office. They don't care about the citizen, the common man, the person they're supposed to be acting on behalf of, and that's not going to change anytime in the foreseeable future. I'm not bitter at all, no sir.

So do I think the outcome of the election will make a major difference in our lives? Not really. However, I do think I have a civic duty to vote anyways, and since I like Obama (in a general sense, not in a "here's X reasons you should vote for him" sense) and don't like McCain / Bush / Palin, that's where my vote's going come November.

If for whatever reason it doesn't, I'm writing in Spider Jersualem. Windy can provide pics, I'm sure. :D

Oh, and to quote Robin Williams: Bush doesn't talk while Cheney's drinking water. Check that shit out.

Fuck, does it have to be one of those two? Trajan's just pandering to the military vote, and KilGrey has no foreign policy experience.

Yup. For those who have no clue what I'm talking about, I showed these pics to a friend of mine yesterday. His immediate response was to say "those are photoshopped." We argue back and forth about it, but he maintains that if it was a flood, then you wouldn't be able to see the football field under the water, due to the silt and dirt that gets kicked up. So I pointed him to xkcd. Then I called Cae and said "hey, if you're like really bored, mind going and taking some pictures just so I can tell this guy he's full of shit?"

He wouldn't do it though. :(

Right now, I'm on the Obamarama bandwagon. I don't keep up with it a great deal, though. But if for some reason Obama falls out of favor, I'm writing in Spider Jerusalem on my ballot.

Stupidity - either being seen as lacking intelligence, or pulling a stupid stunt, or saying something really dumb. Basically anything that results in people thinking "geez that guy's a retard."

When you know you only got the one ace, you're always scared of losing it. Not necessarily of it being beaten, since I'm rarely jealous or competitive with people about their intelligence. But falling short of an ethereal threashold value that makes people conclude "You? Smart? baahahahahhahahahhhahahahaahaha."

(e: this is one reason I broke up with the last girl I dated - I frequently felt stupid around her, and her constantly and sharply giving me a hard time, while very rarely indicating I was doing something well / right, only made it worse. She wasn't malicious, it was just an aspect of her personality that meshed wrong with mine, but motherfucker did it suck.)

Failure's similar for me, but it's because it leads toward this, rather than being a standalone thing.

Hello, innocent ones. I joined because I heard somethings about RPing. I enjoy a bit of RPing here and there, but would also like to learn a tad about making games from pros. So, in short, here to RP and pick up a few things.

Howdy and welcome, and sorry you have such shitty timing, since we're still engaging in an "oh dear merciful Lord in Heaven when will it end"-fest of red-hot epic levels with Reynard.

I don't do much RPing myself, but I know several others do, in particular Morgul and Emerwyn. So I'm sure you'll find something to do in that area.

So in the current troll war between Tokes and Reynard, we have Tokes: 4, Reynard: 0. Sorry man, I calls 'em like I sees 'em, and your collection has been taken entirely from the "suck" bin. See previous: you wanna play with the big boys (and girls), you gotta step it up a notch.

You still haven't answered my question, either:

This is perfectly on topic - so what are your porn habits and preferences?

France 1.2 well that's France for you

Fucking French

Also, 1000 karma and a little tag or something for the first person to give me the full (from the graphic novel / comic book) version of the quote at the end, as well as who says it.

"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.'"

Rorschach's Journal, October 12th, 1985.

Okay, since I know you don't have the book (which kinda defeats the whole purpose of this), it's your turn: question from the book or from the trailer, and not something that can easily be googled (i.e., correct answer found in the first page of google results).

Also, when will people learn that the best place to get good quality trailers is Apple.com?

http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/watchmen/high.html

Apple's failed to load for me several times in the past. Youtube works, and I can favorite the vids. That's why.
