General Discussion / Torrential rains in the middle of . . . West Texas?

Yeah, last night it got so bad with the flooding that the mayor declared a state of emergency.  This morning, the rain stopped, and the roads are generally clear - however much of the city is still flooded.

Texas Tech University (my alma mater) is one place in this city that has ABSOLUTELY NO DRAINAGE SYSTEM.  I remember walking to class once after only an hour of rain and having to wade through 1.5 ft deep water.

Hey guys, I know that a lot of people have been drawing The Joker since The Dark Knight came out, but this is one from a long time back.

This one actually came out of a conversation with Contingencyplan - he said "You keep doing hereos . . . do a villain once in a while for us evil people!"

Okay, general discussion is a good place to have some serious philosophical conversations.

So here we go:

It could be said that at the heart of every man is a deep and profound sense of fear.  This fear motivates everything that he does.  What fear drives you?  It isn't limited to a single fear, and you needn't worry about someone ridiculing you for posting.

Be honest.  Strip away everything that you hide behind, and tell me.  What frightens you?  Not things that go bump in the night, or heights, or spiders, or even Mickey Mouse.  But rather, the sense of terror that gnaws you beneath the surface.

I'll go first.

I fear failure.  Not failing something specific, but being a failure in the end.

As a former semi-professional movie critic (and continued amateur critic) I have to say that this movie probably TIES with Batman Begins, if it doesn't beat it.  I won't say much more until people have had a chance to see it, but I'm definitely writing a review of this puppy for you guys.

Precursors Artwork / Eyes

Some may or may not have noticed that the eye color on my picture changed.

I'm working on a process for changing eye color to see what different characters/races will look like.  Here are a few fun ones (remember, this is from a man who has no more experience in digital art than my cat).

I like to call it "idiot-proofing".

I was trying to run the game and accidentally slipped and went too far on the start menu.

The game uninstalled, just like I inadvertantly told it to.

We might want to add a check in there before running the uninstall (something like "Are you sure you want to uninstall this application? - Ok/Cancel").

General / CALVINBALL!!!

Okay, this one will be moderated by me fairly closely.  I got the idea from another forum that I post on.

This is fairly simple.  We play calvinball, using no objects other than what would normally be found in Calvin's backyard (also anything in a croquet set is legal - i.e. wickets, mallets, etc.).

Each poster must post as either Calvin or Hobbes.  You will always post opposite the poster above you.  If you are Calvin, then your posts need to look like this.  If you are Hobbes, then your posts need to look like this.

Just make up a rule and have fun with it.  Bear in mind though, that you need to come up with a clever way to negate a rule if you don't want it to be in effect.

Be sure to end your post with an open ended action that the next person can use.

For Example:

Calvin bounces the ball into play off his forehead (as required since he started the game within the "forehead bounce zone") and runs towards his own goal, crossing into the hop on one foot border. 

Calvin hops frantically on one foot but trips in a gopher hole.

Hobbes scoops up the ball and runs to the rock of foreign national anthems, he throws the ball toward his goal while singing the Norwegian National Anthem (for double points, due to the Norwegian vocal scoring factor).

The ball bounces off the post of dizzyness.

Not too hard is it?  I'll be nice at first, but you need to try to get the hang of the game fairly quickly, as I WILL be deleting posts that just don't work.

Consider those two the first plays of the game, next person start with Calvin and the post of dizzyness.
