Maybe I should explain some of the quotes in my sig. If anyone thinks so, I will. Maybe they are funnier left unexplained though. How about this. If anyone asks for explanations, I'll give them. If not, I won't.

Wrote this and posted it on another site recently. Feedback please?

The Tampa Rays defeated the Boston Red Sox 3-1 last night to advance to their first World Series in franchise history. Actually, this is their first playoff appearance in franchise history.

The Rays have been the bottom-of-the-division team since they first came into the league. They had never finished better than third in the division, never had a winning record, never been to the playoffs, never had any respect. They have always been a team to laugh at. A joke. No better than an MLB farm system to trade any players who show any talent. Not this year.

They Rays are going to the World Series. Their improbable AL East Championship, ALDS victory over the Chicago White Sox, and ALCS victory over the defending world champions has put them in a position to accomplish the biggest victory Tampa baseball fans have ever seen.

The Rays jumped out 3 games to 1 early in the ALCS. The Red Sox are known for coming back in the ALCS in recent years. Everyone remembers what they did in 2004, coming back from a 3-0 defecit. Last year, they were down 3-1 against the Indians, and came back to win it. Both seasons, they won the World Series. You can see why Tampa fans were worried when Boston came back to win game 5 after being down 7-1 in the 7th inning. Boston went on to tie the series and force game 7. The Rays were underdogs once again, and also once again, beat all odds and prevailed.

They will play against another season long underdog in the Philladelphia Phillies. In a year where teams with big expectations failed to deliver, a typical American can't help but love to see this. The Yankees failed to make the postseason for the first time since 1993. The Atlanta Braves were nowhere to be found this year. The Mets missed the playoffs again after a miserable collapse last season. The Detroit Tigers, who had high expectations this year, finished last in the AL Central at 74-88. The Cleveland Indians weren't much better at 81-81. The Chicago Cubs, a favorite to win the World Series for the first time in 100 years, fell short in the ALDS, with a loss to the Dodgers. The defending champion Boston Red Sox went down early to the Rays with 3 losses in the first 4 games.

So, who do you root for if neither of these is your team? Any Mets or Braves fan should root for Tampa as they will be bitter after they Phillies won the division. What about ALCS fans? The Yankees and Red Sox fans? Yankee fans should cheer for the Rays. How often can you like a division rival to win the championship? When it's an underdog like Tampa, it feels wrong to root against them? What about Boston fans though? Aren't they in the same situation? Not exactly. The Rays stopped the trademark comeback this year. Boston fans may congratulate Tampa and root for them, but knowing Boston fans, this isn't likely. They will cry about how they should have won it and cheer for the Phillies. Any other baseball fans, enjoy this year's Series, pick a lovable underdog, and watch some great baseball. Seriously, these teams both deserve it.

This is very true but....

The main focus should be the actual presidential candidate. I am putting consideration into the vice presidential candidates but...
it's not going to be my main reason for voting.

Stuff about Obama

If you can find links, please feel free to post them, I'd be interested in looking at them.

I wish I had links just because it was so horrible.
I saw it on a TV that I was walking by, so I have no idea where to find it...
I'll try to find it on Youtube tonight but I doubt that I can find it...

I already tossed this at Cae, just for conversation's sake, but I'll post it here too: linkage

Well, the article is definitely one-sided in making Palin look terrible, but it does raise some good points. Before reading this, I was saying that I support McCain but didn't know much about Palin. She needs to be taken into consideration because of McCain's age. Thanks for the article. I'd rather see a neutral look at Palin before I decide on anything though.

Last I heard, Nader is running.

I didn't like Romney as some one who I'd actually vote for in November. I just thought it was cool that there was a Mormon running. So basically, there is nothing intelligent in liking Romney.

Has anyone heard Obama talk lately??
I forget what it was about but he was being asked about why he hasn't come up with a plan for something knowing that McCain has already presented a plan. His response was...(I don't have the exact quote but this is close.)
"I've seen McCain's plan and I've said why I don't like it."
Well...this doesn't answer the question. Criticizing Republicans isn't going to do much if you are actually elected. You are going to have to come up with things ON YOUR OWN!!

But wait, there's more.
He was asked about the struggling economy and what is to blame.
His response... (Again, not an exact quote.)
"So many people are sending kids to college and it's hurting them financially."
 :dumbass: :tinfoil:
So, in order to save or economy...Don't send kids to college?!?!?!?
Really?!?!?!?

Even when he was early in primaries...
I didn't think much of it and actually liked this but...
Everything he said seemed to be said ONLY in order to disagree with Hilary Clinton.
It's like all he does is tell you "this person sucks so you should pick me."
I know that this is how politics are but how far can it really go???

Ok, I feel like I'm building a mafia case and I don't want to end up "voting" (haha like in mafia...get it? ummm.....anyone???? hello????) for Obama so I'll stop now.

My point is I don't like what I hear when Obama talks...
I can't even imagine hearing him everywhere for the next 4 years...or worse....8 years.

At this point, whether I support him or not, everyone knows that the major candidates are McCain and Obama. Nader was only added because he is a 3rd party SK candidate whose name pops up everywhere.

I liked Romney but you don't see his name on the list either.

He obviously isn't going to be elected though.  :fish:

How come Ron Paul wasn't on the list? You're discriminating, aren't you? :raise:

I had an "other" option...

Right now, I'm on the Obamarama bandwagon. I don't keep up with it a great deal, though. But if for some reason Obama falls out of favor, I'm writing in Spider Jerusalem on my ballot.

admitted bandwagon!!!

Seriously though, it looks like I'm going McCain.

I figured we could use another of the many polls that exist. Let's see what everyone on here thinks. Of course, discussion is always good too.

All I saw on there was yesterday "Dolphins sign Chad Pennington".

So, good move by the Dolphins? I think so. They have a good starter in Pennington and if he gets hurt, well they are just where they thought they'd be this year anyway. McCown, Henne, and Beck.

Like I said, Miami still isn't a good team but this is a good move.

What???
You didn't see it coming.
I've only made a few calls better than this one.
For example, T.O to Dallas, called halfway through his last season with the Eagles.

Maybe I just know Parcells....
