Hmm... This week it's:

Space Hog (http://www.mtv.com/bands/az/spacehog/artist.jhtml)
Schwannoma (Local Jazz/Fusion Band)
Jim's Big Ego (http://www.bigego.com/)
Disturbed (http://www.disturbed1.com/)
Nickleback (http://www.nickelback.com/)

But I go through moods.

This weeks it's solid Metallica, Guns and Roses, and AC/DC. For some reason, I can't get enough. But I still like a lot of oldies and some new.

Yeah oldies are the best somehow most new bands and songs just lost it...

I do have to give props to Disturbed, however. Thier covers of some older songs (Shout 2000, Land of Confusion, etc) are very good, and I think that they add to the song. No, they're not the same as the orriginal ones, and I won't even say they're better... but instead they're an alternate view on the ideas contained in those songs.. something I really support! (I'm a big fan of artists covering other artists, so long as they add something orriginal to the song.)

Mmm... Metallica. I think I'll go listen to them now. Or AC/DC.

Not too much of a big fan of Metalica... then again I was raised off of The Ramones and Sex Pistols.

I've never heard of Three Dog Night.

I'm in love with
Brand New
Flyleaf
Evanescence
The Ramones
Anarchotics
CRASS
and for some odd reason
Sublime?

You know, The Ramones knew like three chords and played the same damn song again and again.  It was just a goddamn GOOD song.

Three Dog Night is a cassic rock band....they're the ones who sang the whole "Jeremiah was a bullfrog" song which is called "Joy to the World" i just threw them in for kicks.

Yeah lol.
It's the same Nirvana complex.
Musically - they're wretched... Lyrically there's something there.

Same with dead kennedys.
I'm the same with music as I am with my literature. I like to read in between the lines for a deeper message.
Title: Re: I love rock and roll...
Post by: Caenus on March 15, 2008, 07:42:58 pm
Meh, I dunno - I prefer musical quality over some revolutionary "I'm gonna change the fucking world!" attitude.  I've been in a band, I've lived that life, and honestly . . . revolutionaries live shitty-ass lives.

Does anyone else here think that Nirvana was the best band ever, or am I just that old?

Next to them, Seether would be high on my list, and I have to admit, I love The Cranberries.

As do I, Man, that was some amazing Music.  Everytime I think of the early nineties, all I hear is Kurt Cobain.

Same.
Although, now it's cool to say that Kurt Cobain "had no talent".
I will admit that he isn't that great on a guitar, but he's a lyrical genius.

As Far as I am concerned, he was very talented, you have to take the music as a whole and the end product was just awesome.

I assume you have seen their MTV Unplugged performance, correct, if not download it, by the CD, something, it is simply amazing.

Of course I have =)
I actually own the album.

Kurt definitely was  trend setter... A lot of artists now are emulating his voice, and lyrics.

We assumed that and decided to give you credit for being a high schooler, because no one older than high school would be nearly as dumb as you.

Well. I guess we were wrong.

I say under 18, but it's inclusive.  18 AND under.

Truthfully, I doubt many people younger than myself get it.

Wasn't Atreyu the dude from Neverending Story?  I was scared to death of that movie as a kid - I took the title literally, and assumed if I started watching it, I would have to watch it forever - I must have been like 11 or 12 by the time I got around to it.

For the life of me I wouldn't know the dog/dragon's name.

As for bands, too many to list, but here are some of my favorite bands/musicians I had the pleasure of seeing live (this is far from all inclusive, but I figured it was easier to list bands that are my favorite that I have seen live rather than list all bands that have ever been up in "favorite zone"):

- Pavement
- Jane's Addiction
- George Clinton and Parliment
- B.B. King and Eric Clapton
- Sonic Youth
- Sublime
- Rage Against the Machine
- Soundgarden
- Bob Dylan
- Pearl Jam
- Rancid
- Rush
- Paige and Plant
- Red Hot Chili Peppers
- Smashing Pumpkins
- The Breeders
- The Pixies
- Yo la Tengo
- Built to Spill

probably more, but I was starting to list bands that weren't really favorites, so I will stop here.

I knew you'd link to a lyrics page, but is that seriously the best one you could find? It doesn't even have more than 2 of the lines at the end for crying out loud. Trust me, I've done the Google searches for the lyrics, I just haven't found any that I think match up yet.

www.azlyrics.com
That's the site that I use for lyrics.
As far as I have seen, it is very accurate and has a lot of songs.

Anyone here listen to Bright eyes?

Got links?

And speaking of links, try these on for size (http://youtube.com/results?search_type=search_videos&search_query=she+wants+revenge&search_sort=relevance&search_category=0&page=).

She Wants Revenge is what Baby Jesus would listen to, so you should too. Especially to this song. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=bX-uvKqZBXE)

Once in 11th grade in biology I wrote lyrics for 'that's what happens when cells divide.'
