The Wallth Are Thoundproof / Re: Things you just can't say....
« on: March 08, 2008, 01:08:44 am »
My friend Will did a comic commission which featured a busty woman who is quite nude in various parts of it. But it was also really cute, and quirky, 'specially that woman character.
So, when I finished reading the second volume of it, I said to Will, "She's so cute; I love it!" And he said, "Yeah, cute. The whole thing's like 'cute porn.'" We all have a good laugh, when I made things worse.
I said, "Cute porn, yeah! Like kiddie porn!"
Awkward silence...
"WAIT, NO! THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!!!"
I was... embarrassed, and continued to defend myself when friend Brandon said, "She just meant porn for kids."
Grateful, I said, "Yeah! Like... Disney Porn!!!"

WHY do I always make things worse?

Wow, that's fantastic.

The best Disney porn, without question, is the ones with Jasmine from Aladdin.

Especially with her tiger. :toot:

Schrodinger's cat is dead . . .

Yeah, looked it up on the vid's Wikipedia page. Apparently they screwed up the formula, by replacing the 'h' with a line through it with a regular h.

Glad to see this kicking back into gear, though my passions and such are taking me in a different direction than this for now. Godspeed friends! I look forward to watching this unfold.

Where is DeVry? I thought it was in Dallas, but you're still in Houston. Are there multiple campuses?

65
Yeah, I thought it was, but I didn't know for sure, having never taken classes or really met anybody there.

One thing you might consider: if computer science isn't floating your boat, and you want to run GNE as a business, try doing business school. I don't know how good Tech's is, but I'd reckon it's decent at least. And depending on how far you and Ginny are in your respective degrees, you'll probably both finish about the same time.

On topic: I know morgul has put a lot of thought into this - this wasn't a decision he came to lightly, and he was sure to discuss it with several people before making it official. I also know a number of y'all (recon and cara in particular) have continued attempting to work on Precursors without us in the interim. We greatly appreciate that, and want y'all to know that your efforts weren't in vain. If you want to continue working on Precursors, we will do our best to support you, even though our priorities are shifted. We'd also be more than happy to have you join the Alluvion development team, if you so choose. Regardless, thank you for your efforts, and we look forward to continuing to work together in the future!

... Oh. That makes sense.

Hm. Well, if Kansas won't work, let's do Japan!

Precursors / Re: Ideas for a Character Generator...
« on: May 30, 2007, 11:55:53 am »
I haven't watched the vid yet, admittedly, but I'd say no, it shouldn't, so long as we have some limitation on the size and complexity of the character models. then it wouldn't make any real difference whether we're displaying 10 characters that all fit a certain template, or 10 different characters from 10 different models.

The main thing is size and storage space - we have to store those models somewhere, and having each player be able to create their own model would require a massive amount of storage space on the client computer. Perhaps some sort of model life scheme or something, where the model is automatically deleted after it hasn't been encountered in a certain period of time.

Alternately, we could do something like Spore, and have procedurally generated models. That would make it very easy to store and transmit the models, since the actual graphic model is generated client-side. I'll have to watch the vid to see whether that's possible from the program or not, though. And I got enough shit up in the air right now. :(

Exactly - I can't grow up yet!

Seriously, though, it has had a positive effect. Not gonna stop me from hitting on chicks in bars to get some experience in the game theory side of things, but it's at least got me wondering whether I'm wanting short flings or long-term stuff right now, and at least modified how selective I'll be with girls in the future. Or something like that - it's hard to explain.

Ah well, back to morgul's plans for world domination, starting with Precursors!

You say wonderful. I say "condolences." :D

Of course, Cae knows I'm joking. It's still a bit surreal that he's married. Seeing him marry somebody he really loved made me get all introspective about what I want out of life, chicks, marriage, etc. But fear not - it's wearing off, at least a bit. ;)

RFI Roleplaying / Re: The Rules (Read before Posting)

This can only end in tears...

Seriously, though, I'm interested to see what comes of this. You won't see me posting here for a while, if at all.

edit: One thing I realized - while most of us know the Precursors universe and setup and such, where can future players (and current ones who need to brush up) find the setting, rules, storyline, characters, godmode cheats, etc. for the game and comic?

Something I just realized - Ginny has a forum name, right? So doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of not telling people who she is on the comic site?

"In this car, there is not enough room for head." (Non native english speaker, trying to say not enough headroom.)

:-P

Remember kids, seat all the way back before you try doing that. Nobody wants to hear the horn going off on regular intervals because your head keeps hitting it.

RP was something I was thinking of a while back. I'm interested, despite the retards RP seems to attract... So far we don't have any such RPtards on the forums (to my knowledge), so I'd say let's have at it.

Besides, we can always use some new targets for shooting practice.

Sorry, life's been alot crazy for me recently, I probably won't be caught up with anything until June or so.

Understandable. Hope everything works out!

Pretty pictures - oh, is THAT what you're calling those. Meh, beauty in the eye of the beholder and whatnot, I guess.

I kid, I kid. :D

Okay, LONG past time for bed now. Tests tomorrow - PRAY HARD.

Precursors / Re: CS/CEL Revisions
« on: May 02, 2007, 02:48:30 pm »
Yeah, I'm coming around to Recon's opinion - the constant updating is bad. I'm not for locking down to one revision and staying with it FOREVAH, but we should work "update to the latest CS rev" into the milestones, and only do it when we know the current code base works; this way, we can track down issues related to updating CS without having them clutter up the other "durr, forgot to increment the pointer" kinda bugs.

Haha, welcome to the boards. Like I said, give us till about June, and we'll have Trac and such redone to where everything makes sense.

Wow, that sucks hard. What was wrong with the superblock - depending on the partition type and the tools, you may be able to fix it, or at least salvage the rest of the data from the drive.

Yay for SVN though, right?
