definition of almost according to Webster's New Encyclopedia Of Dictionaries (30 Reference Sections, 1024 pages,printed in 1986 by Ottenheimer Publishers, Inc.) is "very nearly, all but" which I interperate as meaning a lesser amount, especially the "all but" part.
As far as percentages, it is common knowledge that 100 is the full amount. Half of 100 is 50.
62 is not all but 50.
Therefore, 62 is not almost 50(half of 100).
That being said, 62 percent is NOT almost half.

Had to edit the sentence "62 is not almost half" so it now reads "62 percent is not almost half"
That had to be fixed because 62 is almost half of 125 if you are only looking at numbers and not percentages.
