I dunno if his skills are up to that; I'd be all for him giving it an attempt, however. Still, I bet he could do a few ships, if you gave him detailed drawings. :)

Well, like Chris said, there isn't a guarantee it will be nice. I mostly model landscapes, but for the last year or so I've been playing with Poly Modelling. But yeah, send me detailed drawings, but try and have at least four sides covered: Front, Back, Side and Top. I don't need a perspective view, just those four. With those, it won't be too hard for me to do.

I'm playing with 3DS Max 7.0 right now, but I normally model in Max 5.

Caenus:
Being an artist myself and having done woodcarving and sculpting, I know EXACTLY what you'll need to cut out a good looking fiend.  What I'll do is do an outline guide from four perspectives.  You'll probably have no trouble doing it.  The big difficulty will be making this thing functional, but I know how the anatomy works, I just need someone I can sit down with and explain the muscle insertions.

Morgul:
Cae, keep in mind animation is all skeletal based. So you'll need to design the skeleton for the mesh first, and then decide how the animations work. (just an FYI incase you didn't know.)
