Use of Karma

(1/4) > >>

contingencyplan:
After smiting [GoRC]STALION for the spam thread, I got to thinking: We still haven't nailed down what the karma on the forums should represent, or who should be able to smite / applaud whom, or anything like that.

So I figured I'd ask: What are some ideas for uses for Karma (including "ignoring the damn thing")? Who should be able to use it? How seriously should it be taken?

Lemme know what y'all think.

PieceMaker:
I think it should be used as sort of a user rating where people can see how the people who have access to the karma meter like that certain person. They can put positive if they like what a certain person has been doing or negative if they don't like the way they conduct themselves. As for who has access to it, I think it should be the moderators and people who the moderators trust.

ryguy_1617:
I have to agree with piece on that.

Morgul:
I'm going to add this mode: http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php?mod=192 so that we can atleast track Karma, and see which posts the person got smited for, or applauded for. Then, I think it should be used as 'feedback' the users can give each other on thier posts. We can also see who's being smitted alot.

That's the words from on high. I'm going to reset everyone's Karma to zero, after installing this. No admins messing with it anymore!

PieceMaker:
Awww, I wanted -600 karma.
