Interaction between the book and the game?

morgul, since you're writing a book that takes place in the same universe as the game, how much of a presence will those characters from the book have in the game? Will they be hero NPC characters, or characters controlled by admins, or what?

Just something I'm curious about.

Morgul:
Well, I've given this a good deal of though. The main character, Capt. David Case, will be (one of) my admin characters. He, and therest of the main characters in the story will have 'Legendary' Status. (just means they're special, and didn't start out with the basics like normal characters... Oh, and that they're well known.)

As for how much interaction... Well, I plan on running through the timeline of my story over a course of time. I will play my character, and the other admins can opt to be any of the others... and I would like to roleplay those characters. Doesn't have to be like the book, but same universe, following the same general idea, atleast initially.

So, yes, there will be a lot of interaction with the book characters. The story from the book is basically optional.. however it's the same situation.... also, I imagine that I could have a 'Story' server, and a 'casual play' server... where I'm david case, running around, being David Case. No ties to the book at all.

Could it be possible, though, to have characters that are of that same Legend status that the admins play, but are not part of the book? Presuming I get to be an admin, I have a character kinda already picked out. If there's someone in the book that's similar, then I'll play as that character; however, if not, then I would like to be able to play as that Legendary character.

What do you think? Would that be messing with the game universe too much?

Morgul:
Not at all! Legendary does not mean "In the Book." However, if there's some neat characters in the game, I may turn them into book characters. (I plan on writting several stories in this universe. Might just follow a week of gameplay :-P.)

Also Legenday != admin. Players can earn a Legendary Character (or get thier character turned into one. People who play Grey Characters will have to have a Legendary Character.... Seeing as how a Grey is one. NorAellians might be too. Not sure.)

So, yeah, you can have whomever you want and a Legendary Character.

So what would one do to become a Legendary character? Play a long time, or progress in the game? But since the game is insanely non-linear (even for an MMORPG), how do we measure "progress"?
